Rules & guidelines

These exist so that everyone gets the quiet they paid for. Membership means agreeing to them.

Inside the reading room

Keep phones on silent. Take calls outside the hall.
No conversation in the silent zone, including whispers. Use the discussion area.
Use earphones for any audio, at a volume only you can hear.
Do not move chairs, desks or partitions.
No food at the desk. Water in a closed bottle is fine.

Your seat

Your allocated seat is for your use only. Seats cannot be shared, swapped or passed on.
Do not occupy a seat other than the one allotted to you.
A seat left unoccupied for more than 30 minutes may be used by staff for cleaning.
Personal belongings are your responsibility. Use the locker if you have one.
Seat changes are at the discretion of the centre and depend on availability.

Fees and membership

Fees are payable in advance for the period of membership.
A grace period applies after the due date, after which a late fee may be charged.
Membership lapses if fees remain unpaid beyond the grace period, and the seat returns to the pool.
Fees already paid are generally not refundable. Any exception is at the management's discretion.
Approved leave does not automatically reduce fees unless the centre has notified otherwise.

Conduct

Behave respectfully with staff and other members.
Smoking, tobacco, alcohol and any intoxicant are strictly prohibited on the premises.
Do not damage or deface furniture, fittings or property.
The centre may suspend or cancel a membership for repeated breach of these rules.
Report any issue to the counter rather than confronting another member.

General

Timings are as per your allotted slot. Entry outside your slot needs prior permission.
The centre may remain closed on notified holidays and for maintenance.
Keep your contact details updated so fee reminders reach you.
The centre is not responsible for loss of personal belongings.
